Keywords: seismic microzonation (SMZ), microseisms, method of recording of microseisms, H/V method, increment of seismic intensity
Аnnotation: Applicability of the method of spectral ratio of horizontal and vertical components of ground motion (H/V method) for assessment of the increment of seismic intensity and tracing of bedrock surface covered by soil layers are discussed. The first issue is a classic problem of seismic microzonation; the second is related to the problem of structural mapping of upper part of the geological profile. A possibility of using a single station without synchronization of data at a given point of the site with recordings on etalon rocks for assessment of intensity increment is evaluated. It is shown that such approach is invalid because the H/V ratio maximal variations during a day may reach 2.7 times; 0.8 of intensity degree will correspond to such variation. At the same time it is shown that resonance frequencies of soil layers are stable. If the mean velocities of seismic waves are known in some points of profile surface, the position of underlying bedrock top can be traced with confidence.
