Аnnotation: In the article focal mechanisms of earthquakes of Javakheti highland are made over the period 1971 to 2015, for individual time intervals, for periods between 1971-1973, 2001-2004, 2006-2009, 2010-2012 and 2013-2015. For making of mechanisms the method of average mechanisms was applied, in which Javakheti plateau earthquakes' data are used with variety of intensity by the distribution of P -waves' first income signs, then, comparing with the tectonic structure of the study region. On the boundaries of the active faults of the study area 5 blocks were allocated, with different directions of compression-tension forces pairs. The predominant types of movements in earthquake hypocenters in each selected block, for each time interval are revealed. The main characteristics of the focal mechanisms of earthquakes are investigated up to Paravani earthquake of 1986. It is established that before the strong Paravani earthquake there was a change of the predominant type of shifts from strike slip into thrust with slip component.
