SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL FEATURES IN DIURNAL DISTRIBUTIONS OF STRONG EARTHQUAKES AT THE GARM RESEARCH AREA

Аnnotation: The spatial pattern of the diurnal changes in the temporal sequence of relatively strong earthquakes at the Garm Research Area in Tajikistan for 1955-1991 was investigated. The earthquakes that occurred in the daytime and at night, as well as the value characterizing their difference, are mapped separately. The differences in the diurnal variation of seismicity in several local zones are discussed. Compact areas with a significant predominance of the number of daytime seismic events presumably associated with quarry explosions are identified. Areas are located far beyond the Garm Research Area at a considerable distance from the network of seismic stations. Directly within the Garm Research Area, the sources of anthropogenic seismic events are not found. Large connected areas were identified, combining cells with predominance of day or night earthquakes.
