Аnnotation: The data on the stress-strain state of the Earth's crust obtained from precision observations were studied by the method of strain analysis based on the geometric theory of deformation. On one of the geodynamic polygons in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, ground-based light-dimensional observations were made to calculate the main axes of compression and stretching. Out of 10 baselines, 4 variants of the strain gauge socket were selected, which made it possible to calculate the invariant characteristics of the deformation process from the measured displacements of the earth's surface. The tensometric analysis of the observation results consisted in determining the values of the main deformations, as well as in calculating the angle between the dominant loading axis and the shortening axis. Two sources of impact are proposed as factors determining the dominant loading axis - magmatism (closely located active volcanoes) and the subduction zone (the impact from the sinking of the Pacific Plate). Since the seismically active region was studied, the analysis took into account strong ( M > 5.5) earthquakes to identify a possible relationship between earthquakes and the characteristics of the deformation process.
