Аnnotation: The purpose of this study is to identify the features of the rock-fluid system in zone of the lithospheric plates subduction using the example of the South Caspian basin (SCB). The methodological approach to solving the intended goal consisted in performing a comparative analysis of the parameters of the hydrocarbon systems in the frontal and rear parts of the accretionary prism. The analysis was carried out using a wide range of field data (measurements of temperatures and pressures in wells), laboratory studies of the properties of rocks, organic matter, oils, gases and formation waters of the hydrocarbon fields. The results of such research methods as rock pyrolysis, biomarker analysis of oils and isotope-geochemical analysis of fluids were used. The spatial heterogeneity of the accretionary prism was established. Its frontal part (the area of the Absheron threshold) is distinguished by higher stress loads, favorable conditions for intense focused heat and mass transfer, characteristic properties of the rock-fluid system and the peculiarities of its oil and gas content.
